Transnational & Global Studies Center

The TGSC is a National Resource Center created in 2003 through funding from the U.S. Department of Education. It is part of a Florida-wide consortium of universities – the Florida Network for Global Studies. The TGSC is housed within the University of Florida International Center and has affiliated faculty across the entire campus. The TGSC promotes interdisciplinary research, supports faculty and students through development of curricula and academic programs, sponsors cultural activities and guest speakers on transnational and global issues, and provides outreach.

Florida Network for Global Studies

Headed by the University of Florida, the Florida Network for Global Studies (FNGS) includes Florida International University (FIU), University of Central Florida (UCF), University of South Florida (USF) and Florida A&M University (FAMU). Like all Title VI centers, FNGS focuses on area studies, language and teacher training to foster interests and skills in international education. The three major themes are: identity, diaspora (dispersion of a people from their original homeland), and migration; global governance and human security; and science, technology and communications. The FNGS is a partnership for creating and implementing new curricula, research, and outreach programs.
