Materials Needed:

1. Notes on countries of Western Europe
2. Map of Western Europe
3. Compare and Contrast Diagram
4. Venn Diagram
5. Venn Diagram with Summary paragraph
6. Pens, pencils, and highlighters

Procedures:

1. Discuss the notes on each country of Western Europe with students using maps.
2. Students will highlight important information on physical geography, human geography, and economics. Examples of the notes can be found here (PDF or Word).
3. Using two of the seven countries of Western Europe, students will compare and contrast countries that are adjacent to another. They will do this in one of three ways
   • Use the compare and contrast diagram
   • Use the Venn Diagram
   • Use the Venn Diagram with summary paragraph, stating what is unique about the two countries you have compared
4. Remind the students that the highlighted information will be used for study and for questions on future exams.
